A little out of date

The material in the book is generally useful, but it definitely suffers a bit from being dated. The paperback indicates that it was published in 2000, and I suspect that the content wasn't "touched up" for the Kindle release.

There's some information in there about why you'd want to shoot MF, and that information is generally still relevant.

A fair portion of the rest of the book is devoted to discussing models of MF cameras. Is specific to film models, with no mention of digital, even digital backs or which models may be able to accept digital backs. I'm relatively certain that there were film MF cameras built after 2000, so I'm not certain that the book even covers all of the possibilities in film. Even with the models that are covered, some of the information is a little sparse (entries are sometimes like "This model is basically this other model with some updates." which isn't particularly helpful, imho).

Overall, the book is decent, but not amazing. It's certainly useful to get a feel for what models of film MF cameras are capable of, but could definitely do with a fleshing out, and possibly an update.

Indispensible for Medium Format shooters and collectors!

I've had the printed edition of this book for over a decade and recently bought the Kindle version so I can have it where ever I go. Mr. Williams has done an excellent job of laying out the benefits of medium format--as well as the drawbacks--and goes through each major manufacturer's lines for the various body styles (twin-lens reflex, single-lens reflex, rangefinder, and specialty). As the owner of at least eight MF bodies I find this title indispensable when looking for basic information about a product line, lens series, viewfinders, and other accessories.

Truly a "find" that I've bought twice--once in print and once electronically!

Just what I was looking for in my quest before buying a used Medium Format camera. It wet my appetite for a range finder camera that is now on my list of photographic must try. Other reviewers can call it dated that is quite alright with me just pay attention to which edition you purchase it isn't aimed for the digital world.

Bursting with information!

This book is one of those that rather than elaborate for some thousand pages on just a few gold nuggets, has MANY peices of valuable information, from tuning forks to elements to patterns and more!! This book is done from a semi-scientific approch and the author has done a wonderful job researching! Lots of diagrams and pictures. Very easy to understand and put to practical use.
If You like sound and want to expand it into healing for yourself and others this book could be just what your looking for!

Unique Vibrational Healing

As a Holistic Practitioner, I recently became interested in what some have called "vibrational medicine". I found Beaulieu's unique observations into the world of sound, music and healing to be thrilling and his views have urged me to continue looking into the realm of sound. I have adopted some of his tenets into my consulting work. Information on voice energetics was most interesting; combining physiology with energy concepts, as was the chapter on tuning forks. A great read.

John Beaulieu has done a wonderful job with this book, especially for those of us who are visually oriented and like to see the concepts presented in a visual manner - lots of diagrams.

John's knowledge of the history of music and it's use in healing, as well as his vast knowledge as a composer and musician, make this work valuable if you're planning on using music in your own therapeutic work. I'd recommend it very highly.

I've referred to John's web site for quite some time for information, and have been impressed with his generosity in sharing files he has composed. I haven't seen that on very many sites. John's CD's are also excellent.

Phenominal book; Well Worth $40 for anyone interested in the actual production of armor historically or to actually reproduce it

This book is just fantastic. It may be titled "Techniques of Medieval Armour Reproduction" but don't let that fool you; you don't have to be in the business of reproduction to enjoy this. Anyone who likes mechanisms and engineering...well, this is a must-have. I bought it because I was interested in it and curious about the designs and expected to be able to apply them in side projects.

However, I was blown away by the sheer amount of detailed and interesting information concerning every single facet of armor production. The organization of the content is brilliant as well; the entire book has a few misc sections but is primarily divided by what piece of armor rather than what specific suit of armor, and each armor part section has details about how different types of armor changed from the 14th to 18th century.

I came into this book from curiosity and intrigue and even after just a quick 20-30 min browsing through the pages before leaving for work after getting it, I immediately wanted to build myself a segmented gauntlet because I never quite realized how cool the engineering is for it.

If you want to build reproduction quality armor and want a good resource for it, go no further: you've found all you need right here in this book. The one thing I would say is...get the hardcover edition if you want to reproduce stuff from it. It may not look like it from the picture, but it's 500 pages and...well, they could charge $60 for paperback and I'd still would have gladly paid.

Great book and full of information

This book has been possibly the best thing I have spent my money on. Being a novice armorer it helped consolidate so much information that normally would be scattered to the winds. This is a great buy and I would very much recommend it to anyone who is interested in the medieval craft.

I will recommend this book to scholars for the fact that it demonstrated a worldly perspective of democracy and how it can in many ways move societies forward. I hope to read it the second time. It's really too much for most people to do by themselves, which, as you know by now, is why most of us pay good money to hire real estate agents, mortgage brokers, home inspectors, and other professionals to help with the process. But that doesn't remove the buyer from the role of project manager, whose job is to understand what each specialist is meant to do and recognize when one of those key players is not doing his or her job right. Books such as 100 Questions Every First-Time Home Buyer Should Ask help the novice gain a solid understanding of the basics involved in this often complex process. The questions in this second edition of author Ilyce R. Glink's book also make buyers think about their decisions. Love this book -- for anyone who wants to really understand buying a home

The book is a little outdated (which I knew when ordering) as it was written before the mortgage meltdown circa 2008, however as a mortgage banker and loan officer this book was indispensable when I first started in terms of putting the whole process in context.

Great Yet Some Financial Advice Is Outdated

As a real estate agent, I love it.

My biggest gripe is that a lot of laws have changed. This book was written before 2008, so it still has pre-Dowd Frank legislation.

Other than that, the advice is wonderful. I just wish the author would publish an updated version.
