Most diet and workout books are focused on the wrong things: They focus on WHAT instead of HOW. The leanest people focus on how, on their eating habits, not on fad diets. Diets that rely on willpower and discipline fail. The path to results is made up of eleven small, simple, step-by-step habits. Rotating through phases of metabolic, endurance, and strength workouts yields the best fat-loss results.

The one health and fitness book everyone needs to read
By LOL
To be quite honest, under normal circumstances, I would never have looked at this book. I happened to read about it on a blog that I visit occasionally and it intrigued me enough to at least check it. I am so glad that I did - what a game changer! There is currently one "1 star" review that effectively states that you don't learn anything because there are no references. In reality, that is the strength of this book.
Josh and Dan give you the real life principles that you can apply to any program. For example, they don't tell you not to eat X or train with Y. They just tell you that some things take you closer to your goals and other things take you further away. They also introduce the concept of reasonableness. While there is nothing inherently wrong with doing a prepackaged 12 week program, it is not sustainable in the real world.
People are too emotionally involved with diet and exercise programs and this book helps you to take the emotion out. You are not good or bad depending on what you ate for breakfast. If you are always on a diet, then it is not sustainable. This is the case for slow and steady wins the race. Get rid of the insanity and strict rules and find what you can live with forever. One of my favorite parts of the book is when they tell you to be an adult. Adults know that you can not eat fast food every day and have a healthy and sexy body. So be an adult and dont make a diet out of it. If you have it once in awhile, then dont beat yourself up. Enjoy it for what it is and know that it didnt progress you forward toward your goals but it didnt totally derail you either.
This book is about balance. As a recovered bulimic, I can tell you that a lot of obesity and food issues are related to self-esteem and this yo-yo effect of beiing good or bad depending on what you ate/did on a particular day. Read this book and learn to find reasonableness and balance. Definitely in my top 5 health books and I read a lot.
Thank you Josh and Dan for creating such an incredible resource

Compassionate, smart habit-based health management
By Sonia N. Simone
This is very different from typical diet books. Rather than give you strict formulas about what to eat (when the authors can't possibly know who you are or what way of eating is going to be sustainable for you), they talk about how to build the habits that sustain a healthy weight.

If you know Josh's blog, you know that he's a compassionate and thoughtful writer who avoids the shaming and disorder that's so common in the fat loss world. And Dan John, of course, is a freaking genius. They're very different writers, but I like how they work together here. Dan tends to get a little philosophical, so some readers may want to focus on Josh's detailed, action-oriented chapters to start. (But do yourself a favor and read Dan's chapters once you're up and running.)

This is a great book to pick up if you don't want to yo-yo any more, and instead want to build the habits of a healthy, strong, happy person.

BRILLIANT
By Steve, Australia
Everyone knows i am a HUGE Fan of Daniel John, his latest Book is something Special. I have bought every product he has put out and they have all been Fantastic. How both Josh and Dan put together the information in this book is absolutely brilliant, i don't thonk there are enough positive words that i can put into this review?

Everyone looking to improve their physique, training or nutrition startegies will get something from this book. All of the information Like that from both Josh and Dan's websites is to the point but more importantly ACTIONABLE. There are so many books that want to have get insanely obssessive about all aspects of training and nutrition for fat loss. This book is truly a breath of fresh air.

I bought a pack with the audio book, hard copy and ebook, as i like to listen to things as i drive and to be honest listening to Dan John speak is just like i would imagine it being in one of his lectures. I know i will read and reread and highlight so many sections when my hard copy arrives.
